First, I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all of our loyal customers who came out today for Technique Tuesday. It is such a treat to be able to come to work each day and see women (and the occasional gentleman!) laughing and bonding over scrapbooking. What a great hobby we all share!
Now for the reminder portion - The next make and take will take place on July 8th. Next month we will be having the FREE make and takes on WEDNESDAYS instead of Tuesdays. Our vendor of the month will be the fabulous Heidi Swapp and we will have great specials to go along with our Heidi Swapp themed projects. Get ready for some fun because our first make and take for July will be using the Invisibles products. I'm really excited about this one and I will do my best to post a sneak peek here on the blog so stay tuned!
Thanks again,

ScrapHappy's is looking for a few great scrappers who would like to be a part of our brand new design team. We originally announced the call for designers in our weekly email that went out this morning, but we have already recieved a few questions so here is some additional information.
Design Team Information:
The design team call will be announced June 2nd with submissions due June 21st and the announcement of the team on July 1st via blog, email, and phone call. Submissions will consist of 2 layouts, one that's a summer theme, and one that showcases the applicant's individual style (any subject/theme) and will be physically brought into the store for display during the "judging" period. Each layout in the submission should have the applicant's name, phone number & email on the back. The layouts can be a single or 2-page spread. We would prefer 12x12 layouts, but we will accept 6x6, 8x8, 9x9, 8-1/2x11 or 12x12. The team will consist of 6 people picked by Brittany & Jamie and will serve a term of six months. Employees are not eligible for the design team. DT members will fill out a questionnaire and provide a picture to be featured on the blog and on their own page on the website. Also, members will sign an agreement that they will complete 1 layout + 1 other project with supplies in a kit provided by us each month. If they do not complete the projects they will be on probation, if they do not complete them 2 months in a row, they will be off the team. They will pick up their kit each month and have 2 weeks to complete their projects. For example, if the kit is available July 1st, the project is due by July 14th, not 2 weeks from the date they pick it up. They will be compensated by being able to keep the projects they have made after it has been on display in the store for around 3 months, sometimes less. They will also receive a store discount of 15%, if they are elite members their max discount will be 20%, not 25%. DT members are not employees of ScrapHappy's and will not receive standard ScrapHappy's employee benefits. Members of the team may receive different kits according to the designer's individual style and what displays are currently needed around the store.
This week we will be exploring paper piecing with punches to make a super cute bookmark. We will have instructions posted and supplies ready for you at our Art Bar area.
Stop by Tuesday between 3 and 6pm to get inspired and complete a cute project. This is a free drop in and go event. We can't wait to see you!
Okay girls, don't act too shocked...I actually completed a layout to go with one of my photos of the day. Christian took the picture of me and I just had to use it. It's not the most flattering picture, but it will always bring back memories of having fun and being silly with my boys!
The layout uses four sheets of coordinating paper, white card stock, two coordinating ribbons, a XL button, 3 regular buttons, and 2 small chipboard flowers. I created a small file folder out of white card stock and matted my photo on it. I left it open on one side so I could put a journaling block inside. I tied a ribbon around the left edge of the file folder. I then matted the file folder on one of the coordinating pieces of patterned paper. I used foam squares to attach the piece onto the page to add a little dimension. I also left the top open so I could add another journaling block. I then added a piece of ribbon across the bottom of the page and embellished one corner with the XL button and the chipboard flowers. I printed the date on white card stock and matted it on a second coordinating patterned paper. I placed three small buttons on the top corner of the title. The journaling is printed on white card stock and adhered to the third of the coordinating papers. The fourth coordinating paper is used for the background of the layout.
As I was putting my layout together, the boys were asking what I was doing. I told them about the challenge and my desire to take a year to reflect on my life. They were excited about the idea of taking a picture everyday and they are now on board with the challenge! I will continue to keep you updated on our progress.
Melissa
